What is PaiGow Poker? And would it be appropriate for our party?
March 5, 2022I am often asked, what games should we have at our party? The answer may vary based on the number of attendees and the physical space of the venue. The game that is most popular by far, as well as the easiest to learn, is Blackjack. If a player can add up to 21 it is easy to learn, and a blast to play. I recommend at least one Blackjack table for every Casino Night Party.
The second on the list would have to be craps. While craps may be the hardest game to learn, anyone can learn how the pass line and field bets work, and it may be the most exciting and fast paced games in a casino. One of the upsides to choosing Craps as that a table can hold up to 16 players at a time on a 12-foot table. The downside is that because Craps requires three dealers it is more costly. Occasionally, you can use two dealers on a smaller table (10 feet), but it does not give the complete casino experience.
The next most popular game is Roulette. Once again, some players may have advanced strategies on how to play, but anyone can choose Red or Black or perhaps odd or even. Roulette can hold up to 9 players at a time, and the table (8 feet) Is a bit larger than a blackjack table.
Also popular is Texas Hold’em. This 10-player game is 8 feet long, comes with cup holders, and requires some skill. We always provide cheat sheets for our new players, and our friendly dealers are always willing to teach the rules of the game. This is the same game played at the World Series of Poker, and our tables are also made by the company that supplies them with their tables. Most players in a Texas Hold’em game will stay for most of the party at this one game.
Other increasingly popular games include Three Card Poker, Ultimate Texas Hold’em, Let it Ride and Pai Gow Poker. These are all versions of poker but played against the dealer (house), not other players. These are faster poker games and have become very popular at most casinos. For larger parties of over 75 people, I encourage the party panner to choose at least one of these games to add some variety to the casino.
Money wheel is also a fun game an easy game to play. People who are not card or dice players often gravitate to the money wheel because it may be the easiest game to learn and play.
While all of the games are fun to play, and if there were a party of 50 guests, NorCal Casino Parties would most likely recommend 2 Blackjack tables, one craps table and one Roulette Table. If I also know that if I had several poker players, we would swap out one Blackjack for a Texas Hold’em tale.
